All Points West Chamber Choir, founded by Dr. Adam Robertson in 2019, is a semi-professional, mixed voice community ensemble whose mission is to foster the love of diverse styles of choral music by presenting high-quality, eclectic programs to the community.
The name All Points West comes from the 1970 film “The Phantom Tollbooth” based on the novel of the same name by Norton Juster. Uttered by the ponymous tollbooth, the phrase implies adventure, learning, exploration, something new.
Since its founding, APW has offered a safe space to its diverse membership, and promoted the aforementioned spirit of discovery and love of choral music in all its forms to its members and community alike. APW concerts often present music that spans multiple centuries, marrying traditional choral repertoire with modern works, and new settings of film and popular music.
APW regularly performs with the Edmonton Symphony Orchestra alongside the Greenwood Singers. This collaboration has comprised numerous film music programs (featuring works by Giacchino, Horner, Morricone, and Zimmer, among others) as well as the Symphony’s first ever concert featuring the music of Anime, in 2025.
A native of Burnaby, British Columbia, Adam works throughout Alberta as a conductor, choral and vocal clinician, adjudicator, and teacher. Holding degrees in vocal performance from the University of Lethbridge (BMus) and choral conducting from the University of Alberta (MMus), he completed his DMus in choral conducting from the University of Alberta in 2018. During his time in Edmonton, Adam has conducted several ensembles including the Sherwood Park Festival Singers, Da Camera Singers, Edmonton Children’s Choir, and the University of Alberta Mixed Chorus
In addition to leading All Points West, Adam is currently the director of the University of Alberta Madrigal Singers.
